My dear Mr. Magón:

Your letter of July 20th to hand re your eyes, and I am writing to the Department of Justice today as well as the U.S. Superintendent of Prisons. In addition I expect to go to Washington towards the end of this week, and shall take the matter up personally with the officials. You might in the meanwhile ask the Doctor if there is not some doctor who is an expert that you can be taken to, and your friends will arrange to pay for same.

Have you made any application for amnesty on your case? If not, do you object to same being made by yourself or friends? Write me about that.

Anything further I can do let me know. In the meanwhile I hope to hurry re the treatment of your eyes.

Acuso recibo de su carta del 20 de julio referente a sus ojos, y estoy escribiendo hoy mismo tanto al Departamento de Justicia como al superintendente de prisiones de los Estados Unidos. Espero, además, ir a Washington hacia fines de semana y tratar el asunto personalmente con los funcionarios. Usted podría, mientras tanto, preguntar al doctor si no hay ahí algún médico especialista al que pudieran llevarlo, y sus amigos se encargarían de solventar los gastos.

¿Ha presentado usted alguna solicitud de amnistía para su caso? Si no es así, ¿se opondría usted a hacerlo personalmente o a que sus amigos la presentaran? Escríbame al respecto.

Infórmeme si hay algo más que pueda hacer yo. En tanto, espero apresurar lo referente al tratamiento de sus ojos.
