Mr. Ricardo Flores Magón My dear Mr. Magón: I am writing this day to Washington for special permission to have your eyes examined by an outside oculist and to allow for an operation by an outside oculist. I hope to be able to get a reply before the 21st of this month and if I do not, my office will advise you while I am absent from New York for about two weeks. If by any chance they should refuse because of my making the request by mail, as soon as I return to New York I will take the matter up in person at Washington, all of which may be unnecessary, of course, if you should be included among those who will be amnestied before Christmas, as I am hoping. My very best wishes and compliments of the season to you and all those with you, and may the New Year bring at least a little bit of justice and liberty back to the world. Sincerely yours,
Señor Ricardo Flores Magón Mi estimado señor Magón: El día de hoy estoy escribiendo a Washington [solicitando] una autorización especial para que un oculista externo examine sus ojos y le permitan que lo opere un especialista del exterior. Espero tener respuesta antes del 21 de este mes; pero si no es así, mi despacho lo mantendrá informado mientras estoy ausente de Nueva York durante unas dos semanas. Si acaso rechazaran mi solicitud por haberla enviado por correo, me ocuparé personalmente del asunto en Washington en cuanto regrese a Nueva York; todo lo cual, por supuesto, pudiera ser innecesario si, como espero, usted quedara incluido entre quienes serán amnistiados antes de Navidad.
